What Are They Up To Now: Eric Palicki!
Written by Jonathan Waugh | No Comments | Published on September 9, 2020Darby Pop Publishing has had numerous up-and-coming writers and artists collaborating with us over the years. Each month, we’ll be highlighting the most recent work by one of these industry professionals who passed through our doors on the way to making their sequential storytelling dreams come true.
Since creating Fake Empire for Darby Pop Publishing, writer Eric Palicki has kept himself extremely busy and collected a couple of coveted nominations along the way!
Palicki’s first work after Fake Empire was No Angel, a comic book series he co-wrote with his sister Adrianne Palicki (an accomplished actress whom you might recognize from TV series like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and The Orville); Ari Syharazad handled the art. Focusing on an Iraq war veteran who discovers that she may be descended from a line of super-powered beings, this modern Western is a wild ride that mixes biblical mythology with the kind of pulse-pounding action we’ve come to expect from Eric.
Following No Angel, Palicki moved to the Emerald City of Seattle and started writing for comic anthologies such as MINE!, Everything Is Going Wrong, and The Good Fight. Palicki also crossed over to the editorial side, working with Wave Blue World on anthologies like This Nightmare Kills Fascists, All We Ever Wanted, Dead Beats, and the upcoming Maybe Someday. Palicki even received his second consecutive nomination as an editor for a Ringo Award for Dead Beats!

In looking back at his time with Darby Pop, Palicki says “it’s hard to believe only four years have passed since the original publication of Fake Empire. Comics have kept me busy in the intervening years, but I owe a lot Fake Empire, and Darby Pop, for starting me down this path”!
The pleasure was all ours, Eric!
